27 August 2026 — The Faculty of Fisheries and Food Science (FSPA) at UMT collaborated to prepare 300 servings of “Khomok” rice for distribution to UMT students.
Led by Dr. Roslizawati Ab. Lah, the project began as early as 7:30 a.m., involving 20 Bachelor of Fisheries Science students, as well as FSPA staff and lecturers. Distribution of the meals commenced at 1:00 p.m.
Notably, the FSPA community also made voluntary contributions, allowing the “Khomok” rice meals to be shared among FSPA members as well. This initiative not only strengthened bonds but also fostered a spirit of togetherness and a culture of sharing. Students were encouraged to bring their own food containers to reduce plastic usage and support environmental sustainability.
Sincere appreciation goes to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr. Mohd Izani bin Mohd Zain, for the financial contribution via the Student Kitchen, and to the Dean of FSPA, Prof. Dr. Najiah Musa, for the support and encouragement that made this project a success.
It is hoped that such initiatives can be continued in the future to benefit the UMT student community.
